Wheatland Center School to host auction, spaghetti dinner, learning fair

The Wheatland Center School PTO  will host its 23rd Annual Spaghetti Dinner & Auction Saturday, March 13, from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the school, 6606 368th Ave. The event is free to the public with the exception of dinner. Wheatland open to consolidation talks with Salem

Wheatland Center School referendum passes

i-votedThe Wheatland Center School tax levy referendum passed 193 to 163. The vote will allow the district to continue to exceed its state revenue limit by $300,000 for four more years. Here's the breakdown of the vote by municipality:
  • Wheatland 172 yes, 143 no.
  • Salem 19 yes, 14 no.
  • Randall 2 yes, 2 no.
  • Brighton 0 yes, 4 no.

Wheatland Center School voters to decide referendum Tuesday

The referendum seeks to allow the district to continue to tax $300,000 over the state revenue limit, which essentially would extend authority granted four years ago, but which has expired. Work continues on issues surrounding how children are transported to and from Wheatland Center School. How buses and parents driving cars drop off and pick up students at the school was changed this year. Wheatland School Board hires Chaffee as interim administrator

Chaffee's hiring comes after the announcement that current administrator Scott Huth is retiring for health reasons. Chaffee will start on Thursday and has agreed to stay on through June 30, 2010,  if needed, said board President Christopher Serak. Education Building awards announced

While there are hundreds of projects included in the Education Building exhibit at the Kenosha County Fair, a few are selected each year for special recognition. Those winners gathered Sunday at the Education building in recognition of their awards. Here are the education Building's Best of the Best for 2009:
  • Pre-kindergarten: Tyee Simek, Riverview School, and Cantin Schiler, Westosha.
  • Kindergarten: Josh Donnellan, Wheatland Center School, and Leonardo Cordova, Paris School.

Boy Scout Troop 381 will host a pancake breakfast Sunday, May 17 that promises to be filling -- and if weather permits -- also uplifting. Mountain lion update: Possible, though no resident cougars in Wisconsin
