Lilly Lake Beach still closed Wed.

Lilly Lake Beach will remain closed Wednesday after a re-rest still showed elevated levels of E.coli, Wheatland town Clerk Sheila Siegler reports. Test results however are heading in the right direction. Tuesday’s re-test showed 1,120 E.coli/100mL, less than half of Monday’s result. Lilly Lake Beach closed due to water test results

Lilly Lake Beach has been closed after a regular test showed elevated levels of E.coli bacteria, said Wheatland town Clerk Sheila Siegler A water test from Monday showed  2,419 E.coli/100mL. A reading above 1,000 E.coli/100mL results in a beach closure. The water will be tested daily until it shows a safe reading.

The 46th annual Wheatland Fire Department Festival took place last weekend at New Munster Park. The event features softball, parade, waterfights, and music at night. The money raised will be used to buy equipment for the fire department.

Wheatland Willing Workers 4-H Club plant tree in honor of Arlene Roanhaus

The Wheatland Willing Workers 4-H Club planted a tree Saturday in memory of the club’s long time leader of 35 years, Arlene Roanhaus. Arlene passed away in January 2014. The Town of Wheatland Fire Department Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday morning by the Wheatland Fire Station. Everyone gathered around the Wheatland truck, and were divided into three age groups. Some eggs had a special certificate in them for a special prize they received from Miss Wheatland.
