State favors roundabout for Highways 45 and K, says project engineer
The state Department of Transportation favors constructing a roundabout at Highways 45 and K as a way to reduce serious crashes there, the engineer for the project said. Jaymin Patel, project engineer, said roundabout and four-way stop alternatives were both considered by the state, but the roundabout has more potential for preventing serious crashes and therefore earned the state’s preference. Silver Lake pays off loans with reserve funds
The Silver Lake Village Board recently paid off three loans using reserve funds, saying the interest savings made it worthwhile. The total payoff amount for all of the loans was about $455,000. Trustee Sotiria Wilbur, the Finance Committee chairman, estimated minimum interest savings of about $127,000. Annual premium savings would be approximately $98,000. Westosha Kiwanis Egg Hunt 2012 coverage
Westosha Kiwanis Club hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt today at Salem School. Besides the main attraction, the event included an appearance by the Easter Bunny and the chance to get a good look at the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department armored vehicle.
