Next Twin Lakes Movies in the Parks is Friday
The next Twin Lakes Movies in the Park will be screened Friday, Sept. 3 at West Side Park.
The movie will be Field of Dreams.
The movie will begin around 8:15 p.m.

Municipalities continue to opt for transit referendums
West of the I municipalities continue to opt for letting voters have a say on new taxes to support a regional public transportation.
Last week, Silver Lake and Paddock Lake opted for Nov. 2 referendums on the issue. This week, Randall authorized essentially the same vote.
Previously, Bristol and Twin Lakes had approved such votes.

Rescue responding to Lance Park for injured skier
At 6:36 p.m., Twin Lakes Rescue and village police are responding to report of an injured water skier at Lance Park.
Dispatch reports that the injured skier was part of the Aquanuts Show.
UPDATE 6:42 p.m. -- Richmond Rescue being dispatched to stand by to assist in pain management for the patient.
UPDATE 6:51 p.m. -- Twin Lakes transporting patient to Richmond Rescue station. Paramedic standing by there.

Twin Lakes finalizes cemetery lights rules

The Twin Lakes Village Board has formally adopted regulations for the use of solar- powered lights at Mound Prairie Cemetery.
The new regulations will limit the lights, which have increasingly been placed at grave sites, to a maximum of 24 inches in height.
Any current fixture that exceeds that height will be allowed until Aug. 31, 1015.
Village officials have said the lights have become in some cases increasingly larger, which
Weekly mosquito spraying coming to Twin Lakes for a while
Twin Lakes village administrator David Cox announced Monday that the village will be spraying for mosquitos weekly for a while, in reaction to the abundance of the insects in recent weeks.
Weekly spraying will stay in effect for at least the next few weeks, Cox said.
The village also will spray today at Legion Park, site of the next free Movies in the Parks. The movie will be The Karate Kid. The movie will begin around 8:15 p.m… Continue reading
Twin Lakes sees increase in insurance cost
Twin Lakes will be paying a little more for its insurance coverage for the next year.
The Village Board also has chosen to add insurance against its employees being robbed while carrying village cash.
This year's premium will be $97,734, about $4,100 more than last year, with the added insurance.

A developers agreement that could pave the way for a Dollar General store to come to Twin Lakes was tabled by village President Howard Skinner Monday.
Skinner said the developers agreement needs more negotiation and that he in particular is not satisfied with the building facade and landscaping of the site.

Municipalities considering and approving transit referendums
West of the I municipalities are considering -- and in some cases approving -- fall advisory referendums regarding a possible additional tax for mass transit purposes.

The Third Annual Guns vs. Hoses softball game will be Aug. 14, at noon, at Legion Park, Twin Lakes.

The Main Street rehabilitation project that has downtown Twin Lakes torn up this summer has attracted the attention of two Republican U.S. senators who are cataloging stimulus projects they consider counterproductive.

Injured Twin Lake public works employee back on job
Twin Lakes public works employee Al Stolp is back on the job this week, the Village Board learned Monday.
That's noteworthy because Stolp was severely injured in a fall from a tree last October.

Twin Lakes National Night Out coverage
Twin Lakes held its annual National Night Out event at St. John the Evangelist Church Tuesday night.
A large crowd was treated to a number of fire equipment displays and demonstrations of everything from Tasers to police canine units. National retailer Dollar General is seeking to place stores in Twin Lakes and Paddock Lake.

Units responding to possible structure fire on East Lakeshore Drive
At 6:59 p.m., Twin Lakes Fire Department units are responding to a report of black smoke, possibly indicating a structure fire, in the area of East Lakeshore Drive and Wilmot Avenue.

Twin Lakes man sentenced in fatal crash case
Bryan W. Fusinato of Twin Lakes has been sentenced to four years in prison for a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle relating to a July 4, 2009 crash in which a McHenry, Illinois woman died.
Fusinato pleaded guilty to the charge in March. The sentence was ordered by Judge Mary Kay Wagner.

Livingston and Lux lauded at Twin Lakes Protection and Rehabilitation District annual meeting
Two big contributors to the enjoyment and health of Lakes Mary and Elizabeth were recognized for their contributions Saturday.
Michael Lux and Bob Livingston were the recipients of recognition awards at today's annual meeting and budget hearing for the Twin Lakes Protection and Rehabilitation District. The meeting was held Saturday morning at Wilmot High School.

Body recovered on Lake Elizabeth

The body of a man who drowned on Lake Elizabeth Thursday evening was recovered Friday night.
The drowning victim was iJohn A. Jones, 53, of Elgin, Ill., a Twin Lakes Police Department press release said.
