State Rep. Kerkman commends Trevor-Wilmot retirees
State Rep. Samantha Kerkman attended the retirement open house recently held in honor of Jan Sielski and Dale Kolmos, who are both retiring from the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District after 36 years of service each.
To commemorate their service to the school district, Kerkman presented Sielski and Kolmos each with a citation on behalf of the Wisconsin Legislature.

Trevor School Memorial Day Program coverage
Students at Trevor School held their traditional Memorial Day Program Friday morning at the school.
In addition to various musical performances and readings, the program included remarks by state Sen. Robert Wirch. The program also included a re-enactment of the Iwo Jima Memorial, including students telling the stories of the individuals involved in the famous flag raising on Mount Suribachi.

Fire alarm triggered at Trevor School
At 10:43 a.m., units from Salem Fire/Rescue were called to Trevor School in response to a supervisory fire alarm.
Deputies at the scene reported at about 10:46 a.m. that students were out of the building and no flames were showing form the outside. Preliminary investigation located no fire and school officials were not sure what triggered the alarm.

Trevor School building project advancing
The Trevor School building addition has taken some steps forward recently.
The Trevor-Wilmot School Board has selected contractors that will bid on the project from a list of 12 that submitted information. Making the cut were:
- Camosy Construction.
- J.P. Cullen & Sons.
- Riley Construction.
- Scherrer Construction.
- Adding five second floor classrooms to the addition. The
Salem grants conditional use permit for Trevor-Wilmot gym
The Salem Town Board approved the granting of a conditional use permit for the new gymnasium planned for the Trevor School expansion.
The permit is needed because of the gym's size, said Matthew Wolfert, Bray Architects, which is designing the school's addition project.
The gym will be able to seat 600 people for a program, Wolfert explained. That should allow for all-school assemblies and special programs.

Trevor-Wilmot increases open enrollment class size limits
The Trevor-Wilmot School Board has made a little more room for open enrollment students than it has allowed in recent years.
Open enrollment is a process by which a student who resides in one public school district can apply to attend another public school district. Bristol Shootout: Lakewood and Randall champs
Today was the final day of the Bristol Shootout grade school A and B teams boys basketball tournament at Bristol School.
Lakewood took the A team bracket championship.
Randall took the B team bracket championship. Here are today's results, supplied by Salem B Coach Jim Valentine:A teams

Trevor girls top Bristol by one point in basketball clash
Kaet Johnson reports that the Trevor girls basketball A team prevailed against Bristol in an "exciting, nail biting" 34 to 33 win Thursday at Trevor School.

Trevor-Wilmot referendum passes
The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District referendum passed 231 to 219 today.
The referendum sought the authority to borrow $11.380 million to fund an addition to Trevor School. With the addition all students could be moved to the Trevor building.

Voters in the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District will be voting on a referendum Tuesday that could result in a major addition to Trevor School and the eventual elimination of classes in the Wilmot Primary Center building.
The referendum seeks the authority to borrow $11.380 million to fund the addition. Trevor-Wilmot residents to meet to assist referendum passage
Residents of the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District who favor passage of the Nov. 3 building referendum are invited to a meeting Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., at the Western Kenosha County Historical Society building, 5905 114th St., Trevor, to discuss assisting passage of the referendum
The meeting will be structured and focused on action, organizers say. It is scheduled to end by 8:30 p.m.

The Trevor-Wilmot School District has scheduled two public information meetings on the upcoming Nov. 3 referendum.
Meeting dates and times are:

Trevor School looking to stuff the bus for The Sharing Center
The Trevor School community is holding a stuff the bus event Friday, Sept. 11, to benefit The Sharing Center, the center has announced.

The Trevor-Wilmot School Board Monday evening passed a resolution to hold a $11.380 million building referendum to add on to Trevor School.
If approved by the voters, the project would effectively allow the district to discontinue use of the Wilmot Primary Center building and house all district students at the Trevor building. Education Building awards announced
While there are hundreds of projects included in the Education Building exhibit at the Kenosha County Fair, a few are selected each year for special recognition. Those winners gathered Sunday at the Education building in recognition of their awards.
Here are the education Building's Best of the Best for 2009:
- Pre-kindergarten: Tyee Simek, Riverview School, and Cantin Schiler, Westosha.
- Kindergarten: Josh Donnellan, Wheatland Center School, and Leonardo Cordova, Paris School.

Trevor students honor Memorial Day
Students at Trevor School remembered the true meaning of Memorial Day with songs, poetry, speeches and a moment of silence Friday morning.
The ceremony is an annual event coordinated by fifth grade teacher Jan Sielski.
