High school football gets started this week. Both West of the I teams have set their rosters and will see their first game action this Friday.

Lakeland softball team off to Ohio for tournament

Lakeland Little League Junior Softball Team is at the Central Regional tournament in Elyria, Ohio and will start playing pool play games on Saturday Aug. 7. The pool play schedule is:
  • Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. vs. Hillsboro R-3 LL, Hillsboro, MO.
  • Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. vs. River Forest Youth LL, River Forest, IL.
  • Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. vs South Bend Southeast LL

Tryouts for the Wisconsin Lightning Softball teams for the 2011 will be in August. Tryouts will take place at Wilmot High School softball fields, 3173 116th St., on the following dates and times:

Lakeland American takes senior district championship

The Lakeland American Senior baseball team captured the District 6 crown Monday and advanced to the state tournament in Madison, starting July 29.

Lakeland still in hunt at District 6 tournament

District 6 Little League baseball tournament tournament play continues today at 1 p.m. at Brighton Dale Fields, # 1-Burnett Family Field,  between Lakeland and Burlington. Lakeland has come up through the losers bracket and would have to beat Burlington today and again tomorrow to win the tournament, said Kerry Burnett, Lakeland information officer. Wisconsin Lightning 10U Black won the NSA State Tournament this past weekend in Middleton, for the second year in a row.

Central comes up short against Union Grove on baseball diamond

Central Falcons baseball team hosted the Broncos of Union Grove Tuesday in a Southern Lakes Conference tilt. Southern Lakes Football Conference combine coverage

Wilmot High School hosted the Southern Lakes Conference Football Combine Saturday at Frank Bucci Field. Participants were weighed and measured for height and then put through a series of running/skills tests before weight lifting.
