Western Kenosha County Tennis Association to host open houses

Western Kenosha County Tennis Association will be hosting two open house this month to explain their youth programs. The open houses will be:
  • Saturday, March 20, 2 to 4 p.m., at Tremper High School, Kenosha.
  • Saturday, March 27, 2 to 4 p.m., at Central High School in Paddock Lake.
At the open houses, participants will be able to get an introduction to QuickStart tennis and register for:
  • The Midwest Youth Team Tennis QuickStart program for children ages

Central loses to Verona in regional final

The Central Falcon boys basketball team visited Verona Saturday in the regional final Saturday. Central got off to a slow start due to the physical defense employed by the Wildcats. Verona jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter start on precision passing and three-point shooting. Texas Hold’em tournament to benefit youth baseball team

The Pleasant Prairie Predators 12U baseball team is holding a Texas hold 'em tournament fundraiser, Sunday Feb. 28 at the Brat Stop. The fundraiser is to help send the team to Cooperstown, New York this summer for a week-long tournament. Salem Booster Club to host 3 on 3 tournament

The Salem Booster Club will be hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Feb. 21 at Salem School. Competition is open to any school. The event begins at 9 a.m.  Start times for individual teams will vary. The entry fee per three-person team is $30. There also will be a three-point contest with a $3 entry fee per participant. Team brackets will be:
  • Boys -- grades 3-4

Watch the SuperBowl and help Lightning Softball

Wisconsin Lightning Fastpitch will host a Superbowl Party starting at 5 .pm. Sunday at Siebert’s Pub 8403 Antioch Road, Salem. KASA to run iceless hockey this year

Central tops Badger in boys basketball

Central boys basketball traveled to Lake Geneva to face the Badgers in a Southern Lakes Conference game on Thursday. The Falcons definitely looked to shut down two of the conference's leading scorers -- Badger's Preston Dailey and Justin Bowers. And the plan certainly was effective. There is still time  to register for Lakeland Little League's 56th season. Baseball (ages 5-18) and fast pitch softball (ages 6-18) registration fees are:
  • $125 for Minor League and above.

Denise Ericson shared the following report on the Southern Lakes Conference cheerleading conference meet: Cheerleading squads from Wilmot and Central high schools competed in the Southern Lakes Conference Championship on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Delavan-Darien High School. Falcons top Panthers in boys basketball

The Central Falcons boys hosted the Wilmot Panthers on Friday, in the first of their two games this season. The Falcons emerged victorious 63 to 56. Lakeland baseball, softball open gyms to start Sunday

There will be open gym for any Lakeland Little League players starting Sunday, Jan. 17 and continuing  Jan. 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7. The open gyms are (by location and level):

Central High School

  • Softball open gym,  noon  to 2 p.m.
  • Baseball instructional league (5-6 year olds)  and baseball AA league (7-8 year olds) 2  to 4 p.m.

Wilmot High School

  • Baseball AAA league (9-10

Today was the final day of the Bristol Shootout grade school A and B teams boys basketball tournament at Bristol School.

Lakewood took the A team bracket championship.

Randall took the B team bracket championship. Here are today's results, supplied by Salem B Coach Jim Valentine:

Central girls defeat Badger in basketball

The Central Lady Falcons hosted Lake Geneva Badger Tuesday on Parents Night. The Falcons prevailed 50-41 to improve to 6-2 and 2-2 in the Southern Lakes Conference. Coach Dan Derler's Falcons jumped out to an early lead on the strong play of Faith Lois and inside spark of Randi Rederer. Bulldog Bantams have banner season

The Western Kenosha County Bulldogs Bantam team capped off their perfect season by defeating the Lake in the Hills Falcons 24-0 to win the Tri-County Youth Football League Super Bowl at Carmel High School on Nov. 15. The Bulldog Bantam team finished the season undefeated and un-scored upon and averaged over 27 points per game. Falcons lose to Brookfield East in tourney; play again tonight

The Central High School Falcons were hosted by the Brookfield East Spartans Tuesday night in the second game in the Lavern Luebstorf Christmas Tournament. Couple recognized for work to get tennis grant

Central High School's tennis coaches Pat and Paul Brings were recently recognized by the School Board for their contributions to the school's fledgling tennis program. The couple, who started the school's tennis programs and also started a community tennis organization, worked with the United States Tennis Association to apply for a grant to help build facilities, said Kris Allison, athletic director. The school received $35,000 towards its new court, which are under construction. The Score delivers sports equipment to Salem School

Two weeks ago two radio hosts Team Mully and Hanley from The Score 670 AM collected donations on behalf of the Salem Booster Club during a broadcast from Union Station, Chicago. Today the goods were delivered in two boxes that contained 15 basketballs, a bucket of softballs, bats, batting helmets, volleyballs  and other miscellaneous equipment.
