The Wilmot football Panthers started their season out right tonight.
Wilmot defeated Catholic Central 14 to 7 at home at Bucci Field in Wilmot.
Wilmot's next game will be Sept. 3, again at home, versus Milwaukee Pius XI… High school football seasons begins Friday for local teams
High school football gets started this week.
Both West of the I teams have set their rosters and will see their first game action this Friday.
Wilmot will meet Catholic Central at Wilmot's Bucci Field, starting at 7 p.m. The school's website says there's free stuff involved for some fans, thanks to the cheerleading squad.

Lakeland Little League Junior Softball Team is at the Central Regional tournament in Elyria, Ohio and will start playing pool play games on Saturday Aug. 7.
The pool play schedule is:

- Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. vs. River Forest Youth LL, River Forest, IL.

Lakeland seniors win first game at state tournament
The Lakeland Seinor Boys baseball team played its first game of the state tournament Thursday against Menominee Falls. Lakeland won 10 to 4.
Lakeland's next game is today at 5:30 pm… KASA Fall Soccer registration party is Thursday

The Lakeland American Senior baseball team captured the District 6 crown Monday and advanced to the state tournament in Madison, starting July 29.

The Lakeland Little League 9-10 year old baseball team won the District 6 Championship in Burlington Thursday by beating Franklin American by a score of 11 to 8.

Lakeland still in hunt at District 6 tournament
District 6 Little League baseball tournament tournament play continues today at 1 p.m. at Brighton Dale Fields, # 1-Burnett Family Field, between Lakeland and Burlington.
Lakeland has come up through the losers bracket and would have to beat Burlington today and again tomorrow to win the tournament, said Kerry Burnett, Lakeland information officer.
The winner of this tournament moves on to the state tournament.

Lakeland Little League will host the District # 6 Major Baseball tournament starting this weekend at the Brightondale Diamonds.
The first games start on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Southern Lakes Football Conference combine coverage
Wilmot High School hosted the Southern Lakes Conference Football Combine Saturday at Frank Bucci Field.
Participants were weighed and measured for height and then put through a series of running/skills tests before weight lifting. All participants were video taped for a DVD that will be made available to college scouts and to the student athletes themselves.
This was Wilmot's second year for hosting the event, said Mike Greinke, WHS head football coach.
