Brewed Beginnings giving one-of-a-kind coffee sleeve donations to Salem Booster Club

Jim and Debi Rigney, owners of Brewed Beginnings in Paddock Lake, were impressed by the efforts of the Salem Booster Club in preserving sports and extracurriculars activities at the school in the wake of budget cuts earlier this year. Coverage of buyers dinner, TLFD anniversary coming

Saturday was a busy one for events. Besides the Silver Lake business expo, westofthei.com also was at the Buyers Appreciation Dinner at the fairgrounds and the Twin Lakes Fire Department 80th anniversary celebration. Salem fire station/public works facility approved

The Salem Town Board reasserted its desire to move forward with a new Trevor fire station at a special meeting Thursday night. The special meeting was called after a confused meeting on the facility took place Aug. 3. At that meeting, Supervisor Dennis Faber voted against moving forward and Chairman Linda Valentine abstained. Thursday night, the measure passed unanimously. Cable out for us; how about you?

Our Time-Warner supplied digital cable is out as of Sunday night 8:30 p.m. It's been out for about two hours at least. When we called to report the outage (finally) at about 8:30 p.m. we were told by a mechanical voice that in fact there was an outage (thanks!) in our area and that restoration of service could take about 90 minutes.
