Shrink-A-Thon to raise funds for The Sharing Center
A Shrink-A-Thon weight loss event involving local residents will raise money for The Sharing Center.
A Shrink-A-Thon operates much like a "walk-a-thon" only instead of walking" participants shed excess pounds. Picture children trying to raise money for their schools as they ask neighbors to pledge money for every lap they walk. Now, instead of children, think of adults working in teams to lose weight while supporting a variety of non-profit charities.

Wilmot Free Masons donate $1,000 to The Sharing Center
Wilmot Free Masons recently presented a check for $1,000 to The Sharing Center.
The money came from a fundraiser the Masons hosted on July 17 called Raise a Roof Over Poverty.
The event included a scenic motorcycle ride, music, food, raffles, etc.

The Sharing Center is still in need of donations from sponsors -- individuals, groups and businesses -- to help make their annual school supplies drive a success.
There are plenty of people who need to receive the supplies, but the effort still needs donations of supplies, center officials say.

Supervisor-elect’s food drive brings in 411 pounds of food and $112 cash
A food drive to benefit The Sharing Center organized by county Supervisor-elect Mike Underhill last weekend brought in 411 pounds of food and $112 in cash.
Underhill defeated Terry Burns Tuesday in the Dist. 23 county supervisor race.

Spring food drive to benefit The Sharing Center

The Sharing Center was the recipient of two important donations last week -- one from a food distributor that just started operations in Kenosha and the other from a chiropractor based in Trevor.
As of last week, Gordon Food Service, which recently opened a facility in Kenosha, will begin making deliveries of surplus food items to The Sharing Center, perhaps as often as weekly, said Lynn Biese, interim director of The Sharing Center.

Pancake breakfast to benefit The Sharing Center
The Knights of Columbus, Council 8108, in collaboration with the La Salette Missionaries, on Sunday, March 14 will host a pancake breakfast and food drive to benefit the Sharing Center of Paddock Lake.
From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.at the shrine in Twin Lakes, the knights will serve pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice, and coffee. Cost is: Adults $6; children 5 to 12, $4; and children under 5, free.

United Way of Kenosha County in partnership with Carthage College, University of Wisconsin-Parkside and The Sharing Center of Paddock Lake are excited to announce an opening of a county Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) for 2010. The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $49,000 and below) individuals and families who cannot prepare their own tax returns. The Sharing Center board names new interim director
The Board of Directors for The Sharing Center has announced Lynn Biese, of Kenosha, has accepted its invitation to serve as the interim director of the agency.
Biese, a chiropractor, has been a familiar face in Kenosha County business and non-profit circles for the past 20 years, a press release from the agency said.

The Sharing Center president affirms the works goes on
Carl Gustafson, president of the Board of Directors of The Sharing Center, declined to say what led to the departure of the agency's executive director last week, but asserted that the group's work helping people in need back to independence will go on.

Pub to host The Sharing Center benefit
Siebert’s Pub is hosting a Wine Tasting and Fundraiser for The Sharing Center from 3 –to 6 p.m. on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.
The remodeled pub will serve unique hors d’oeuvres and delectable desserts along with a variety of wines.
Tickets are just $15 for solo honeys and $25 for couples in advance, or pay just $5 more at the door.

A large group of volunteers gathered at Holy Cross Catholic Church-Wilmot for The Sharing Center's annual Thanksgiving dinner meal distribution.
From 6 a.m. until just before 10, people who had adopted a family for the holiday brought in the makings of a holiday feast. The supplies were taken into the church's gymnasium and arranged efficiently by number.
Then at around 10 a.m., the food started going back out again, as families that had been adopted came in to receive their holdiay meal.

The Sharing Center has new drop-off, pick-up locations for Adopt-A-Family this year
The Sharing Center has announced changes in its dropoff and pickup locations this year for its Adopt-a-Family program. Please note the following:
Thanksgiving
- Dropoff and Pickup Location: Holy Cross Catholic Parish-Wilmot, (at the intersection of Highways C and B).
- Dropoff 6 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
- Pickup: 10 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Christmas
- Dropoff and Pickup Location: Holy Cross
First Christian Church collecting for The Sharing Center
First Christian Church will be collecting donations of food and money for The Sharing Center on Oct. 18.
The church has committed to helping and partnering with The Sharing Center. October is a slow time for donations and the shelves at the center are low.

The Subway Restaurant 24406 75th St., Paddock Lake, will be collecting items for the Sharing Center and giving customers a free cookie or six-inch sub in return for their generosity.
