Randall gets $17,000 payment from Country Thunder

Randall recently received a check for its share of revenue from the 2010 Country Thunder music festival. The Randall Town Board has given its approval for the Fire Department to begin a cadet program. Municipalities continue to opt for transit referendums

West of the I municipalities continue to opt for letting voters have a say on new taxes to support a regional public transportation. Last week, Silver Lake and Paddock Lake opted for Nov. 2 referendums on the issue. This week, Randall authorized essentially the same vote. Previously, Bristol and Twin Lakes had approved such votes. The Randall Fire Department celebrated its 25th anniversary with an open house today at Station Number 2 at Highways KD and F. Lake Benedict’s Dan Rostenkowski, former Illinois congressman, dies

The New York Times and other media outlets are reporting that former U.S Rep. Dan Rostenkowski died at his Lake Benedict summer home today. He was 82. Rostenkowski had been "treated for prostate cancer in the 1990s," the Times article said. Salute to Powers Lake’s Jim Brady flown over lake

Friends of Jim and Maggie Brady from the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team did the Missing Man Salute for Jim on July 25. Jim Brady, well known in the air show community and a long-time Powers Lake resident, died from cancer in January. Flight for Life of McHenry honored the Twin Lakes Fire Department and Rescue Squad for its actions in responding to a call on January 13, 2009 involving three Wilmot High School girls. Randall considering sex offender ordinance

With a uniform state law apparently dead for now, Randall has picked up the task of drafting a local sex offender residency ordinance. Town attorney Robert Hankel on Thursday presented the Town Board with an ordinance modeled on Salem's law. Randall clean-up day is June 5

Spring Cleanup Day for Randall residents will be June 5. Residents can bring items to the Town Hall parking lot, 34530 Bassett Road, from 1o a.m. to 2 p.m. The following items will not be taken:
  • Appliances -- stoves, refrigerators, washers, microwaves, etc.
  • Liquid paints - cans in solid form with lids removed accepted.
  • Chemicals - solvents and solutions.
  • Tires.
  • 55-gallon drums - cardboard drums accepted.
  • Oil.
  • Hazardous materials.
  • Car batteries.
  • Yard waste.

Work on Warren Close Bark Park in Randall under way

Work took place all this week on the fencing needed to make the Warren Close Bark Park in Randall a reality. The fencing arrived earlier in the week. Fence posts were dug and the fencing and gates installed as the week progressed. Randall residents hear west dog park to go along side Bassett Park

Randall residents who have been opposing locating a county operated off-leash dog park next to Bassett Park plan to seek a meeting with County Executive Jim Kreuser about the issue.

About 20 residents gathered Monday night to hear how a process they thought might lead to the park being located farther north broke down and what they could do about it yet.

Randall trims fireworks donation by $1,000

The Randall Town Board in a split vote decreased its contribution for this year's Libertyfest fireworks display from $1,500 to $500 on Thursday night. The discussion before the 3 to 2 vote ranged from penny pinching to patriotism. Randall-Twin Lakes sharing building inspector finalized

Randall and Twin Lakes will begin sharing a building inspector and code enforcement officer after the approval of an intergovernmental agreement by the Randall Town Board Thursday night.
