At 4 a.m., units from Salem Fire/Rescue are responding to a report of a garage fire in the 800 block 224th Avenue, Brighton.
UPDATE 4:07 a.m. -- Bristol and Silver Lake fire departments have been called to scene. House is reportedly on fire as well, according to scanner transmissions.
UPDATE 4:15 a.m. -- Fire under control. Units still going to scene advised to assume non-emergency response.

Silver Lake firefighters to participate in stair climb fundraiser
A team from the Silver Lake Fire Department will be among those competing for bragging rights and to help efforts to improve lung health at an event in Milwaukee March 20.
The Village Board this week approved the trip to the 2010 Fight for Air Stair Climb on March 20 at the US Bank Center.
Teams from local fire departments compete for a traveling trophy. Teams from other organizations and individuals also participate.

Local units responding to help fight Delavan fire
Within the last 30 minutes (since about 2:15 p.m.), the Wheatland and Silver Lake Fire Departments have both been called to respond as mutual aid to help fight a fire in Delavan.
Both departments are sending tenders.
UPDATE 2:56 p.m. - Paris is also being called to this fire with a tender.
UPDATE 6:55 P.M. -- The fire was at Mulligan's Bar. There were no life-threatening injuries. Here's a story from WISN.
Source of smoke south of the state line
If you're wondering what that smoke is to the south, I can't tell you. However, according to scanner transmissions, whatever is causing the smoke is in Illinois.

The Town Of Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department will host a corned beef and cabbage dinner on March 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The dinner will be at at Luisa’s Pizza, 6806 317th Ave.
Tickets are $9 in advance, $10 at door.

Probably very few people would think today was a good day for a swim. But jump into the cold waters of Lake Andrea many people still did today during Special Olympics Polar Plunge.
Perhaps it was because of the cause behind the annual event. Money raised by the Polar Plunge help fund local Special Olympics programs, which provide individuals with cognitive disabilities year-round sports training and competition.

Wheatland responding to structure fire in Bohner’s Lake
At 3 p.m., Town of Wheatland Fire Department is responding as mutual aid to a structure fire in the 32800 block of Bayview Drive, Bohner's Lake, just over the border in Racine County.
Wheatland is requested to respond with an engine and a tanker.
UPDATE 3:18 p.m. -- Wheatland units are returning to quarters.

Report of crash at Highways 45 and 50
At 12:18 p.m., Bristol Fire and Rescue units and sheriff's deputies are responding to a report of a multi-vehicle crash at Highways 45 and 50 in Bristol.
The report to dispatch was that a semi tractor-trailer hit a white vehicle in the intersection.
UPDATE 12:20 p.m. -- Person in vehicle reporting no serious injuries, according to personnel on scene. Deputies will be shutting down some lanes approaching the intersection.

At 10:15 p.m., units from Twin Lakes, Wheatland and Randall fire and rescue departments are responding to a report of a chimney fire in the 7900 block of 352nd Avenue (Highway KD), Wheatland.
UPDATE at 10:19 p.m. -- Fire appears to be confined to the chimney, but adjacent walls getting hot, according to scanner. Everyone is out of the house and in a barn on the property.

At 8:08 p.m., Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue units are responding as mutual aid to Walworth County to Highway U and East Side Road in Bloomfield for the report of a plane crash.

Silver Lake Rescue Squad to host Valentine’s Dance
The Silver Lake Fire and Rescue Squad Auxiliary is hosting a Valentine’s Day Dance on Feb. 13 as their first fundraiser for 2010.

At 10:48 a.m., deputies are responding to the Highway 158 off ramp from northbound Interstate 94 for a semi tractor-trailer that has a ruptured fuel tank.
