Funeral services for Firefighter EMT-Paramedic Eric Norden were held today at Holy Cross Church-West in Wilmot.

Paris receives proposed nuisances agreement from dragaway
Paris has receive a proposed agreement to address nuisances at the Great Lakes Dragaway from the race track's attorney.
The agreement is the result of months of talks between lawyers representing the town and the drag strip, town attorney John Knuteson said at Tuesday night's Town Board meeting. Residents have complained about noise and light coming from the dragaway.

Some citizens asked for -- and the Town Board seemed willing to consider -- a referendum to move the town clerk/treasurer from an elected position to an appointed one.

Paris Town Board to hold special meeting Wednesday regarding clerk, deputy clerk positions
The Paris Town Board has scheduled a special meeting Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 3:30 p.m., at the public safety building on Highway 142 to discuss the clerk/treasurer and deputy clerk/treasurer positions.
The meeting is posted as a closed session meeting, due to the personnel matters on the agenda.

The Town Board approved the move at Tuesday's Town Board meeting.
In the past, emergency expenses were often covered by Chief Roland Iwen using his credit card. Iwen was then reimbursed for the payment by the town.

Within the hour, sheriff's deputies have responded to two multi-vehicle crashes on Interstate 94:
- The first involved three vehicles and was at Highway 50 in the southbound lanes. Two of the involved vehicles were beyond construction barrels when deputies arrived and therefore out of the way. A third vehicle did not stop. No injuries were reported.

Cause of barn fire undetermined
The cause of a fire that destroyed a pole barn in Paris Sunday has not been determined, Paris fire Chief Roland Iwen said.
However, some evidence at the scene and information from the owner suggests it may have been a problem with the approximately 75 year-old building's electrical service, Iwen said.

Woman killed in crash in Paris identified; driver of other vehicle faces felony charges

A driver involved in an crash in Paris that killed a Bristol woman Monday night is facing three felony and several other charges.
Killed in the crash was Dawn Glogovsky, 45, of Bristol, Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Gil Benn said. Her husband, Frank Glogovsky, 47, was seriously injured in the crash as well and was transported to a Pleasant Prairie hospital. Woman dies in crash in Paris
A 45-year old woman died in a crash Monday at Highways N and 45 in Paris, WISN is reporting.
The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. The driver of one of the vehicles reportedly fled the scene, but was found by police.

Paris amends sex offender ordinance to close loophole
When Paris officials recently questioned the placement of a convicted sex offender in the town, they found a big difference in how the state and the town define "home."
The town thought the phrase "home community" in its sex offender residency ordinance meant Paris. The state Department of Corrections felt "home community" meant anywhere in Kenosha County.

Highway 45 construction project begins today
Work on Highway 45 from Highway 50 north to Highway 11 in Union Grove began today.
The project will include milling of two-inches of asphalt and placing two-inches of new asphalt, said state Department of Transportation spokesman Dennis Shook.
Along with the repaving, the 7.86 mile of effected highway will also get new signs, pavement markings and guardrail end treatments.

Sheriff’s Department updates on Paris burglary case, passes on tips
Representatives of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department gave interested Paris residents an update on the recent rash of burglaries in the town as well as and some information about protecting their valuables and Neighborhood Watch at a community meeting at Town Hall Wednesday night.

Traffic stop yields marijuana arrests
A traffic stop in Paris Tuesday evening led to a drug arrest.
A state trooper stopped a Oldsmobile Bravada on Highway 142 just west of Highway 45 Interstate 94 at about 7:45 p.m., according to a report supplied by the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department. The trooper then requested a drug dog sniff of the vehicle from the Sheriff's Department.
