Salem takes stand against statewide sex offender residency law

The Salem Town Board will be sending a letter to the state legislature stating the town's opposition to a bill that seeks to establish statewide standards for where released sex offenders can live and frequent. Paddock Lake trustee field set

Glenda Morey was the candidate eliminated from the Paddock Lake village trustee race in Tuesday's primary. Incumbent Trustee Karen Harris received the most votes -- 100. Barb Brenner and Howard Schlicting both received 78 votes. Matt Nolan received 66 votes. Incumbent Joseph Riesselmann received 52 votes. Patricia Warner received 38 votes, three more than Morey. Salem Fire/Rescue responding to report of stove fire

Dog parks may get $12,000 donation

The effort to raise $25,000 in matching funds  to build two off-leash dog parks in Kenosha County may get a big boost if an anonymous person's pending $12,000 donation is completed. Mark Modory, the county supervisor who has been spearheading the drive to build the parks, said a person has approached the county about buying naming rights for the parks. Paddock Lake to rekey Village Hall locks

You'll soon need a new key to get into Paddock Lake Village Hall when it's locked. The Village Board voted this week to pay for a rekeying of all Village Hall locks. The Paddock Lake Village Board, on Wednesday night, approved a change to the hours of operation at Village Hall. Sheriff’s Department investigating infant’s death

The Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of an infant in Paddock Lake this morning, which appears to have been the result of a family sharing a bed. At 1:38 p.m., units from the Bristol and Salem fire departments are responding to a report of a fire in a home in the 24900 block of 71st Street, Paddock Lake. DNR investigation into snowmobile crash awaits tests

As of Monday, Department of Natural Resources personnel had finished their investigation of a snowmobile crash on Paddock Lake New Years Day except for toxicology tests on the man who died in the incident, a DNR regional supervisor said. More details emerge for Paddock Lake anniversary t-shirt contest

More details have emerged on the Paddock Lake 50th anniversary t-shirt contest. Trustee Karen Harris, who is coordinating the contest, said entries will be accepted from Jan. 4 through Feb. 1. Designs should be made with a maximum size of 8 by 10 inches. They can be designed in two or three colors. The contest is only open to residents of the village. Man who died in snowmobile crash identified

The man who died in a snowmobile crash on Paddock Lake Friday has been identified as David J. Miller, 43, of Paddock Lake. Miller was driving a snowmobile across the frozen lake when he struck two ice shanties near the center of the lake, said Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Gil Benn. Snowmobile hits ice shanty on Paddock Lake

At 7:13 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue units are responding to a report of a snowmobile crashing into an ice shanty on Paddock Lake. Scanner transmissions say there are at least two injuries. The shanty was reportedly occupied at the time of the crash. A fisherman in the shanty has made his way to the north shore private beach to meet fire/rescue personnel. Santa visits Paddock Lake

Santa visited Paddock Lake Village Hall Saturday morning. The jolly man in red arrived on a fire truck from Salem Fire/Rescue and found a line waiting to meet him. After consulting with Santa, participants were able to enjoy cookies and milk. Parents also could have their children pohographed for an identification kit courtesy of Farmer's Insurance. Paddock Lake won’t do memo of understanding on Central HS entrance project

The Paddock Lake Village Board will not sign a memorandum of understanding regarding road improvements related to Central High School's new exit/entrance project. Paddock Lake contracts for animal control

Paddock Lake has contracted with an outside firm for domestic animal control services. For a number of years the village has not had a designated animal control officer. Sometimes, village public works employees have handled those duties when needed, but none of them are certified for that sort of work.
