Plenty of rain predicted for the area this week could have the Fox River rising over flood stage (10 feet) by Thursday and up to 12 feet through the weekend. There's a better than 50 percent chance of rain Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and a lesser, but still present, chance the balance of the week. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Fox River. The river crept over the flood stage of 10 feet Sunday at the New Munster measuring station. The river is forecast to peak at about 11.5 feet Wednesday before beginning to recede. The good news is that there is no rain in the forecast for the next few day. However, it could snow some today, less than an inch during the day and less than an inch again tonight… Continue reading

It seems like it's been forever since anyone was concerned about the level of the Fox River. After the June 19 storm, there were not a lot of significant rain events to bump up the river all summer. But the steady rain of recent weeks has caused the river to finally to start to rise. As of this morning it was at 8.6 feet at the New Munster observation station, still a bit below

We're getting plenty of rain this morning. Luckily the Fox River is still well below flood stage.
