Emergency Management urges residents to leave flooding areas

Heavy rain should push Fox to flood stage

The National Weather Service is saying heavy rain todya is expected to puch the Fox River at the New Munster measuring station into flood stage today. A flash flood watch and a fllod warning have been issued for the area. But with rain ending today and none in the forecast again until Monday, the river is expected to begin receding Sunday and perhaps be back down below flood stage Wednesday. Fox could be flooding by mid-week

Plenty of rain predicted for the area this week could have the Fox River rising over flood stage (10 feet) by Thursday and up to 12 feet through the weekend. Flood warning issued for Fox River

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Fox River. The river crept over the flood stage of 10 feet Sunday at the New Munster measuring station. The river is forecast to peak at about 11.5 feet Wednesday before beginning to recede. The good news is that there is no rain in the forecast for the next few day. However, it could snow some today, less than an inch during the day and less than an inch again tonight… Continue reading

Fox River on rise, but still below flood level

It seems like it's been forever since anyone was concerned about the level of the Fox River. After the June 19 storm, there were not a lot of significant rain events to bump up the river all summer. But the steady rain of recent weeks has caused the river to finally to start to rise. As of this morning it was at 8.6 feet at the New Munster observation station, still a bit below

Lots of rain but the Fox River is very low

We're getting plenty of rain this morning. Luckily the Fox River is still well below flood stage.
