St. John’s Farmer’s market gearing up
The St. John the Evangelist Farmer's Market in Twin Lakes is gearing up for its season.
The market will take place every Saturday from 8 to 11:30 a.m., May 8 through Oct. 23 at the church, 701 North Lake Ave., Twin Lakes.
The market will focus on locally grown and produced agricultural and food products such as flowers, meat, produce, baked goods and honey. In addition, locally produced non-agricultural products will also be offered.

Central to host UW-Extension gardening seminar
A "Spring Into Gardening Seminar" will be held Saturday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Central High School in Paddock Lake. The daylong seminar features a choice of 15 gardening classes.
Topics include vegetable gardening, rain barrels, organic lawn care, composting, flower gardening and more.
Class size is limited. Fee is $30. Cost includes four classes and soup and salad lunch.

Wilmot Burger Bash tickets on sale
Wilmot High School's annual Burger Bash will be on Saturday, March 20, starting at 6 p.m.
Performing will be the Wilmot High School Jazz Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble and Peppers singing groups.

The Pleasant Prairie Predators 12U baseball team is holding a Texas hold 'em tournament fundraiser, Sunday Feb. 28 at the Brat Stop. The fundraiser is to help send the team to Cooperstown, New York this summer for a week-long tournament.

The Lake County, IL Stormwater Management Commission will be hosting a North Mill Creek/Dutch Gap Canal watershed management planning kickoff meeting Thurs., Feb. 25 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 ‒ 8:30 p.m., at the Lake Villa Public Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa, Ill.

Snowmobile poker run planned for Sunday
The run will take place from noon to 5 p.m. and start and finish at The Brat Stop in Kenosha, on Highway 50 just west of I-94, said Terry Burns, club representative.
The entry fee will be $20. Proceeds go to maintenance of the county snowmobile trail system, Burns said.
With recent snows improving conditions, the Falcon Trailblazers snowmobile club is planning a poker run for this Sunday.
Pub to host The Sharing Center benefit
Siebert’s Pub is hosting a Wine Tasting and Fundraiser for The Sharing Center from 3 –to 6 p.m. on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.
The remodeled pub will serve unique hors d’oeuvres and delectable desserts along with a variety of wines.
