Boaters safety course to be held in Silver Lake
A boater's safety course will be held April 24 and 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Silver Lake Village Hall.
The course, sponsored by the Village of Silver Lake Water Patrol and the state Department of Natural Resources, will teach the basics of boating and relevant laws and regulations.

Zuckowski Memorial Ice Derby coming to Benedict and Tombeau Feb. 6
The Mike Zukowski Memorial Ice Derby will take place on lakes Benedict and Tombeau, Saturday, Feb. 6 from 7 a.m. to noon.
Prizes for largest fish of the day -- walleye, bass and northern -- will be awarded. There will be raffle prizes as well, but raffle tickets are available at the event only.

DNR investigation into snowmobile crash awaits tests
As of Monday, Department of Natural Resources personnel had finished their investigation of a snowmobile crash on Paddock Lake New Years Day except for toxicology tests on the man who died in the incident, a DNR regional supervisor said.
