Bristol School PTA seeks donors for fundraiser

The Bristol Grade School’s PTA is seeking donations for a fundraiser on Sept. 25. The PTA is hosting a Walk-A-Thon, and in conjunction with that, will be having a silent auction and raffle. The group expects attendance to be well over 1,000 people. The PTA is seeking merchandise, gift baskets, or gift certificates to be auctioned/raffled off at the event. Bristol School introduces new behavior management system at open house

Bristol School administration and staff introduced the three "Bristol B's" to the  school community at an open house today that was different than those of recent years. The B's -- as in "be safe, be respectful, be responsible" -- are part of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, the new behavior management system the school will begin using this year, explained principal Jeff Terry. Bristol School Board sets Wednesday graduation date for 2011

Next year's eighth grade graduation will be Wednesday, June 8 at Bristol School. The board set the date with a unanimous vote at its meeting tonight after discussion of how to time the date for next year's calendar. Write-in candidates win Bristol School Board seats

Two write-in candidates won seats on the Bristol School Board in today's election according to unofficial results from Bristol town/village Clerk/Treasurer Amy Klemko. Write-in Lynn Keller lead all candidates with 178 votes. Fellow write-in candidate Katie O'Neal received 161 votes. Incumbents Jack Spencer and Mike Saad received 147 and 121 votes respectively…

Bristol School, with a fifth place finish, topped the West of the I contingent in the recent Westosha Area Battle of the Books meet hosted at Bristol School. The Westosha Area Battle of the Books continued Monday at host Bristol School. In Battle of the Books, students from school teams compete by answering questions about books they have read. Students on this year's teams are responsible for knowing 39 books. Bristol PTA to host craft fair, bake sale

The Bristol School PTA will be hosting a craft fair and bake sale this Friday, March 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. These events will take place in conjunction with the school's annual fish fry. Approximately 20 crafters and vendors will be displaying their items. A silent auction/door prize raffle will also take place. Bristol fish fry to support 8th grade activities

A fish fry will be held in the Bristol School cafeteria Friday, March 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help support eighth grade activities at the school. Ticket prices are:
  • Children ages 6 to 12 $6.

Bristol may decide on starting 4K by next month

The Bristol School District is still considering starting a 4-year-old kindergarten program, and a decision may be imminent. District administrator Gale Ryczek said at Tuesday's School Board meeting that a decision on starting the  program should be made by next month's meting. "It's caused a lot of conversation," Ryczek said. Bristol taking fewer open enrollment students this year

Bristol School will be accepting a smaller group of open enrollment students this year than in recent years. Tuesday night, the School Board approved accepting 21 students. In recent years, the district has often accepted double that number, said district administrator Gale Ryczek said. The reason for the lower amount is the building is nearing its optimal capacity, Ryczek said. Bristol School to host kindergarten registration

Bristol Grade School will be registering kindergarten students for the 2010-2011 school year from Monday through  Thursday, Feb. 1-4 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Main Office. Today was the final day of the Bristol Shootout grade school A and B teams boys basketball tournament at Bristol School.

Lakewood took the A team bracket championship.

Chicago Bear Roberto Garza visits Bristol School

Bristol School student David Hunt introduced a new friend to his school Tuesday -- Chicago Bear offensive lineman Roberto Garza. David was selected as a winner in the NFL's Bring a Player to School contest. David was entered in the contest by his father, said Bristol district administrator Gale Ryczek. Safety Town Class of 2009 graduates

Another class of future kindergarten pupils is a little more aware of safety thanks to Kathy Harris Safety Town. The class of 2009 graduated Friday at Bristol School. Through the course the students learn about a number of safety topics, such as traffic, bikes, being a pedestrians, strangers and the school bus. Bristol families to walk instead of sell

Bristol School families used to selling food items for the PTO's major fundraiser will be asked to go for a walk instead. Angie Nelson, PTA president, gave a report to the School Board Tuesday night about changing from a food sale fundraiser to a walkathon, modeled on a successful such event at Paris School. Scouts hosting breakfast May 9 at Bristol School

Boy Scout Troop 385  and Cub Scout Pack 385 (Bristol, Brighton, Providence  and Paris schools) will be hosting a pancake, egg and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon, Saturday, at Bristol School. Bristol bike safety deemed success despite rain

The rain likely cut down the number of people who decided to ride their two-wheelers out to Bristol School this morning for the town's first ever bike safety day and registration.
