Prvidence to host four more bingo nights
Providence Catholic School will host four more bingo nights: March 20, April 17, May 1 and May 15.
Bingo will be held at the Saint Francis Xavier campus on Highway X in Brighton. Doors will open at 4 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy two 10-game sessions. Every game is a money game with the last game being the Super Jackpot.
Meat raffle tickets and spring raffle tickets also will be available.

Units responding to house fire in Brighton
At 4 a.m., units from Salem Fire/Rescue are responding to a report of a garage fire in the 800 block 224th Avenue, Brighton.
UPDATE 4:07 a.m. -- Bristol and Silver Lake fire departments have been called to scene. House is reportedly on fire as well, according to scanner transmissions.
UPDATE 4:15 a.m. -- Fire under control. Units still going to scene advised to assume non-emergency response.

Two car crash at Highways 75 and JB
At 5:09 p.m., deputies and Salem Fire/Rescue are responding to the scene of an two-care crash at Highway 75 and JB in Brighton.
Involved are a silver Neon and a silver Taurus. One car is in the ditch and one is blocking the roadway.
Extent of injuries is unknown.
UPDATE 5:18 p.m. -- Fire department personnel on the scene report that damage to cars is moderate.
UPDATE 5:37 p.m. -- Both vehicles being towed from scene.

Units responding to rollover accident on Highway 75 in Brighton
At 11:19 a.m., units from Salem Fire/Rescue are responding to a rollover accident on Highway 75, just north of Highway PH in Brighton.
The Dodge SUV reportedly had a male driver and three children passengers. The children are reportedly out of the car and complaining of unspecific pain.

Units responding to report of smoke in house
At 12:20 p.m., Salem Fie/Rescue units and sheriff's deputies are responding to a report of smoke in a house in the 25400 block of 60th Street (Highway K), along the Salem, Brighton border.
UPDATE 12:23 p.m. -- First fire personnel on the scene report the smoke appears to be coming from a wood burning stove in the house, perhaps a rag on top of the stove.

Preliminary hearings for the four men charged in the murder of a Brighton resident got under way Wednesday.
The hearings were continued until Nov. 12.
Charged with first-degree intentional homicide and other crimes in the shooting death of Robin Leydel of Brighton are:
Robert M. Navigato, 50, of Bristol.
Brian D. Suchecki, 37, of Twin Lakes.
Richard J. Beeter, 54, of Lake Villa, Ill.
Benefit set to help Brighton woman
A benefit to aid the wife of a slain Brighton man will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning at 2 p.m. at Wagner’s Tavern, 23818 60th St. (Highway K), Brighton.
Robin “Byrd” Leydel died from a single gunshot to the chest following a home invasion on Oct. 13. Four men have been charged in connection with Leydel's death.

The man killed in a home invasion in Brighton early this morning has been identified by the Sheriff's Department as Robin Leydel, 50, of Brighton.
The Sheriff's Department also has four people in custody in connection with the incident. They are:
- John M. Navigato, 50, of Bristol.
- Teddy Bieker, 19, of Kenosha.
- Brian Suchecki, 37, of Twin Lakes.

Dramatic clouds move through area
The above photo was taken about 4:30 in Brighton by Michele Faust while some menacing looking clouds moved through the area. Strange, wasn't it, that the rain followed after these clouds seemed to be gone.
There's likely more rain coming, as the National Weather Service says there's a 90 pecent chance of rain tonight.

Sun shines on Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast
After the alarming thunderstorms Friday night, it was a welcome sight to see the sunshine Saturday morning and a large, hungry crowd at the Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast.

After receiving many complaints about last year's graduation ceremony, Central High School is taking steps to make the graduation ceremony less unruly this year.
Seniors and parents have been sent letters explaining that anybody misbehaving will be asked to leave. Forty eight staff members and a few deputies will also be present to monitor behavior.
