2018 Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast coverage (PHOTOS)

People were able to experience a bit of the life on a dairy farm Saturday at the 2018 Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast.

The breakfast is an annual event of Kenosha County Dairy Promotion in conjunction with June Dairy Month. This year’s host farm was Spoerlein Never Rest Farms on Highway NN in Brighton.

Some overnight rain dampened the ground, but not the spirits of the volunteers or the many people who ventured out for a hearty breakfast and displays of farm machinery, milking demonstrations, children’s games, dairy promo merchandise, fire department equipment and of course cows.

The four-generation Spoerlein Never Rest Farm was established in 1987. It’s owned and operated by Richard and Dale Spoerlein and families. The farm is run by family and part-time help. They milk 220 Holstein cows two times a day in a milking parlor. They produce 15,000 pounds of milk a day, which is shipped to a dairy. They run 900 acres of land and the crops are hay, soy beans, wheat, and corn. The farm is hormone free.
