Fox River crests, starting to recede

The Fox River has crested at 12.43 feet as measured at the New Munster gauge.

That high water mark came at 9:15 p.m, Tuesday. As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, the river stood at 12.4 feet.

The National Weather Service had been forecasting a crest of 13 feet. The current forecast calls for the river to dip below flood stage of 11 feet by Sunday morning.

A flood warning remains in effect.
