Fox River tops 12 feet, heading higher

The Fox River topped 12 feet early Tuesday morning and appears to still be on the rise considering subsequent readings at the New Munster gauge.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the river stood at 12.35 feet. Flood stage is 11 feet. A National Weather Service flood warning remains in effect.

A crest of 13 feet is forecast for early Wednesday afternoon. That crest is slightly less than in earlier forecasts.

Helping the river forecast is that the only significant chance of rain in the latest, local NWS forecast is for Saturday night (50 percent chance of thunderstorms) and Sunday (40 percent).
