Crews were on site Friday preparing the Old Bristol Town Hall for its move from its current location in Bristol Woods County Park to Fireman’s Park in Bristol.

Work being done Friday was to get the building, built in 1870, ready for the move, which is scheduled to take place April 24, said village Trustee John McCabe.

The Bristol Wisconsin Historical Society Inc., formed around the project to move the hall, is coordinating the project.

On April 24, the building move will start around 9 a.m.. The building will be moved to Highway C, taking up both lanes, and then move west to Highway 45. From there, the building will be moved north on Highway 45 to 84th Street. From 84th Street it will move east to 198th Avenue to its new home at 8323 198th Ave.

Bristol Fire and Rescue and the sheriff’s department will be on site for any emergencies.

Residents are encouraged to watch from their lawn and take pictures to be part of the historic move.
