VA benefits and Vietnam War subject of program in Kenosha on March 22

A town hall meeting on VA benefits and a ceremony honoring the veterans of the Vietnam War is planned for March 22 in Kenosha.

From a news release from the Kenosha County Division of Veterans Services:

The Kenosha County Division of Veterans Services and the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care center are hosting an informative town hall meeting on VA benefits and a VA ceremony commemorating of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. This event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Kenosha County Job Center, 8600 Sheridan Road. Veterans, active-duty military members and their families are invited. “Recognizing veterans, past and present, and making sure they and their families have access to the benefits they deserve is an important priority for Kenosha County,” said County Executive Jim Kreuser. “This town hall event is a great partnership between the county, the VA and other agencies.” The VA commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War is an opportunity for all American to recognize, honor and thank our Vietnam War veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice during one of the longest wars in our country’s history. Veterans will have the opportunity to ask questions on the following topics: burial, compensation, health care, life Insurance, Medicare, pension, survivor’s pension, mental health, suicide prevention, education, caregivers, Vet Centers, and CHAMPVA. “This event is a great opportunity for veterans, their families and the community to receive useful information on VA benefits and to say ‘thank you’ and honor all those who served in Vietnam,” said Ali Nelson, director of the Kenosha County Division of Veterans Services. This event is hosted by: the Kenosha County Division of Veterans Services, the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and its Kenosha Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, the Evanston Vet Center, the Milwaukee VA Regional Office and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. Light refreshments will be served.
