Paris School starts literacy unit on Africa with drumming, dancing, stroytelling presentations

Paris School students are studying Africa this school year for their school wide literacy unit.

Kindergarten through second grade students will learn about the culture, animals, and geography of Africa, third through fifth graders will study Egypt and middle schoolers will study Sudan and other African countries.

On March 1, the school was visited by African drummers, dancers and storytellers from  Culture of Africa Everywhere  to kick off the unit.

The whole school participated in drumming and dancing assemblies. Kindergarten through second grade also participated in African storytelling and students in sixth through eighth in an African educational presentations. Students in third-fifth grades will be participating in mummy investigation field trips.

The educational programming is sponsored by the Paris School Organization.
