Salem School students and staff were honored to host several US military veterans Friday afternoon for the school’s Veterans Day program.

In turn, several student groups and guest speaker Sgt. Jamie Armstrong contributed to an assembly honoring veterans for their service to our country.

Salem Scouts presented the colors. Salem band and choir students sang the national anthem. Keynote speaker Sgt. Armstrong, flanked by Specialist Morris and Specialist Mayberry, spoke to students, staff, and veterans in attendance. She thanked military personnel from all generations, acknowledging their contributions and sacrifices.

Following the keynote, Salem students presented veterans with handmade thank you cards. Next, 5th grade students used American Sign Language to perform the Pledge of Allegiance. Prior to the retirement of colors, 7th grade trumpet players performed Taps. Here is video of Taps:

After the program, veterans and their families were invited to stay for coffee, punch, and snacks.
