Local State Senate District used as example in national media story on redistricting issue

Last week, the US Supreme Court heard arguments regarding a case challenging Wisconsin’s most recent redistricting.

At issue is the contention that the redistricting, conducted by a Republican majority legislature, was designed to give an electoral advantage to one political party — the GOP.

National Public Radio’s All things Considered program recently used Wisconsin’s 21st Senate District represented by state Sen. Van Wanggaard to illustrate the issues at hand.

Most of Western Kenosha County lies in the 21st Senate District.

The decision in the case will not likely be announced before next summer.
