Units responding for investigation in Salem Lakes

At about 8:36 p.m., Salem Lakes Fire/Rescue units and a sheriff’s deputy are responding for an investigation in the 21600 block of Highway 50 near the Salem Lakes/Bristol border.

Per dispatch: Caller reporting seeing large flames behind a building. No structure appeared to be on fire.

UPDATE 8:40 p.m. — Deputy on scene reports seeing flames.

UPDATE 8:41 p.m. — Deputy on scene reports people on scene say they have a burn permit.

UPDATE 8:44 p.m. — Bristol Fire and Rescue being dispatched as scene is in Bristol.

    Time after time after time fire and rescue units get sent to fires that are permitted because someone driving by calls 911 to report “seeing a fire”. Whether it’s a prescribed grass burn in the spring or a permitted fire like tonite, all these resources are dispatched on “a phone call”.

    Are these fire permits listed at the 911 call center? Is this information know and told to the EMS personal as they respond?

    I just want to know if the information loop is closed or open? Hate to see anyone hurt responding to one of these “nothing” calls.
