From Somers FD Chief Carson Wilkinson:
At 11:44 PM on January 6th Somers Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a report of a barn fire at 240 County Highway H. As our staff pulled out of the station within 2 minutes of dispatch they could see the flames in the air even though miles away. Immediately a MABAS box alarm was called which was upgraded to a second alarm when units arrived on scene and a third alarm shortly after. First arriving units encountered the east end of the barn fully involved and quickly spreading to the whole barn, 2 nearby buildings and a tractor. Kenosha County Fire Investigation Task force was activated to assist in determining cause and origin, it is still undetermined at this time.
Western Kenosha County departments assisting were: Bristol Fire and Rescue, Town of Salem Fire/Rescue, Paris Fire and Rescue, Randall Fire Department and Town of Wheatland Fire Department. Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies also assisted as did Kenosha County Public Works.
