Sen. Wanggaard a Wisconsin Professional Police Association “Legislator of the Year”

The Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) recently announced that state Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) had earned one of two “WPPA Legislators of the Year” awards. Wanggaard received this award because of his support and authorship of legislation favored by law enforcement during the previous legislative session.

“Although I am honored to receive this distinction, I did not anticipate the recognition,” said Wanggaard. “Working to improve public safety, the community and the lives of those that serve our communities is what we are elected to do. That’s why I’m happy to see so many legislators from both parties on the WPPA honor roll.”

Wanggaard, a former police officer, received the highest score in the State Senate on the WPPA legislative scorecard, which measures support for WPPA legislation on a non-partisan mathematical scale.

Wangaard’s district includes all of Western Kenosha County, except Wheatland.

The WPPA represents over 10,000 law enforcement personnel, in over 300 local affiliates.
