Work to start again on Highway 50 crossing in Kenosha

It was supposed to start last month, but it didn’t, and now it is supposed to again.

I’m talking about railroad crossing work on Highway 50 (75th Street) near 51st Avenue in Kenosha.

Here’s the latest from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation about what looks to be somewhat of a traffic headache if you head in that direction regularly:

Union Pacific Railroad Company is planning on reconstructing an at-grade railroad crossing on WIS 50 (75th Street), near 51st Avenue, approximately one mile east of WIS 31 (Green Bay Road) in the city of Kenosha, Kenosha County. The work is scheduled to take place the week of April 25. The work will require a full closure of WIS 50 near the crossing, from Monday, April 25 through Saturday, April 30.
Traffic will be detoured using the following route: WIS 50 eastbound traffic — Head north on WIS 31 to County K (60th Street). Turn east and proceed on County K to 39th Avenue. Go south on 39th Avenue to connect with WIS 50. WIS 50 westbound traffic — Reverse the above sequence and directions. The schedule of work is weather permitting and subject to change.
