In Paddock Lake where I live, one of the more ash tree intensive municipalities around here, emerald ash borer infested trees have been slowly coming down. Many of the ones that have not been cut yet, are showing the signs of the infestation.

But the state is taking huge steps on its own property nearby. The state has cut 2,000 ash trees in Bong State Recreation Area in Brighton.

This article on the Wisconsin State Journal website has the details.

The ash tree cutting is due to the emerald ash borer. Once trees are infected, the only effective way of keeping the pest from spreading is to cut down the diseased trees.
