This year has flown by and the holiday season is quickly approaching. Before we know it the air will turn crisp and cold, snowflakes will be falling from the sky and we will be gathered together with our loved ones and friends – making memories and sharing stories of days gone by. For children placed in the foster care program this can be a very difficult time of year, being separated from their families and all they have ever known – often through no fault of their own.

Perhaps you’ve been thinking of a way for you or your family to contribute to the goodness of our community. Consider becoming a foster parent!

There are over 150 children in the foster care program here in Kenosha County. We are looking for loving homes for children of all ages. Foster care is challenging but it also carries with it immense rewards. Leo Buscaglia, known as Dr. Love, once said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

No one said that foster care is easy. To love a child, raise up a child, to fear that they may leave again one day – it is a reality faced by many foster parents. The beauty of having foster children to care for, nurture, protect and love is that they will bring immeasurable gifts to your life!

This holiday season, consider giving a child in foster care the immeasurable gift of comfort, safety and a loving home by becoming a foster parent.

If you are over the age of 21, financially independent and you have love in your heart and a desire to be a parent, we are looking for you.
