Text of Silver Lake PD Chief Daniel Kingsley’s resignation letter

I received a copy of the Silver Lake Police Chief Daniel Kingsley’s letter of resignation this morning from village Clerk Terry Faber. Village President Sue Gerber said she would direct Faber to release the letter to us.

Here is the full text of the letter:

Dear Village of Silver Lake Board:

It is with great and monumental regret that I formally notify you of my resignation from my position of Chief of Police for the Village of Silver Lake. My resignation and retirement from law enforcement will be effective September 12, 2014. It has been nothing short of an honor and a privilege to have served the Village of Silver Lake as Chief of Police since 2002, Sergeant since 1998 and Police Officer since 1992. In my tenure with the Silver Lake Police Department it has become my humbled opinion that the police department has made great strides in professionalism with growing integrity. I am sincerely proud of the previous and current staff that I have worked with under my leadership. I have nothing but the best wishes for the citizens and community of the Village of Silver Lake.
Respectfully,

Daniel Kingsley

Here is our original reporting on the issue from Tuesday, including Police and Judicial Committee Chairman Michael Decker’s take on moving forward with the Police Department.
