Twin Lakes residents got a chance to get to know their fire and police departments better at the National Night Out event Tuesday evening.
The Twin Lakes Police Department and Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue hosted the event at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Great weather may have helped contribute to a big turnout.
Communities throughout the nation celebrate National Night Out on the same day in August each year. The event seeks to promote cooperation between the community and its Public Safety Officers, in an effort to draw attention to crime and fire prevention and promote a unified effort to eliminate crime problems and fire safety.
The event in Twin Lakes included free food and a variety of fun activities. Law enforcement and fire departments gave various demonstrations as well.
