Memorial Day parades, services listed

US-Flag-mf-click-webSilver Lake and Twin Lakes will be the scene of Memorial Day parades and ceremonies Monday morning:

  • American Legion Post 544 in Twin Lakes will host its annual Memorial Day parade this year on Monday, May 26. The parade through Twin Lakes begins at 11 a.m. Line-up is between 10 and 10:30 a.m. There will be a service after the parade at the post in Legion Park. The parade starts in Lance Park, moves along Lance Drive and Main Street east to Lake Avenue, where it turns south to Legion Drive, where it turns east and ends at the post.
  • The Annual Silver Lake Schultz-Hahn American Legion Post #293 Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 26. Anyone interested in participating in the parade is welcome and should be at Riverview School by 8:15 a.m. on Monday morning. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. Monday by Riverview School and will travel east to Cogswell Drive where it will then go south to 1st Street. It will follow 1st Street to Lake Street, then go west on Lake Street to 2nd Street and then north on 2nd Street and then east again on Northwater Street ending back at the American Legion Hall parking lot. There will be a ceremony honoring veterans immediately following the parade in the parking lot of the Legion Hall on Cogswell Drive. Free refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
