Shane Gerber, whose 9 years on the Salem School Board officially ended April 27, issued the following statement to the community:
I would like to say THANK YOU to the electors of the Salem Grade School Community. Thank You for electing me to serve on your behalf for the last 9 years. Thank You to the staff at the school for welcoming me into your family but the time has come for me to walk away with my head held high and no regrets and to be proud of what we as a Board and community have accomplished. We have had some rough times but the school and the community has always survived and will always survive. Salem Grade School is a wonderful place to send your children and contrary to popular belief, the school is not too big as some state. I encourage you that if you are looking at open enrolling your children out or in, please schedule a tour and you will see a close knit family that will care for and teach your children. Again, THANK YOU to the community for allowing me to be your voice on the Board for the last 9 years. I have enjoyed every minute of it and I will miss it tremendously.
Gerber did not run for re-election earlier this month.
