At 2:03 p.m., local fire departments are responding to a request for mutual aid for a box alarm requested by the Kansasville Fire Department for a structure fire in Kansasville. Fire is in the 21600 block of Schroeder Road.

Paris Fire Department is due to respond with an engine and a chief, Silver Lake Fire Department with a tender and Town of Salem Fire/Rescue with an engine and a chief for a change of quarters.

UPDATE 2:42 p.m. — Dispatch reports to responding units from Kenosha County that fire is knocked down.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m. — Photographer and westofthei.com contributor Earlene Frederick spoke to Kansasville Fire Department Chief Scott Remer at the scene. He said the fire started as a small controlled burn north of a shed on the property, but was spread to the shed and a marshy area by wind. Fast response from crews kept damage to the shed down and prevented further spread. As for burning now, Remer said “For our jurisdiction, Kansasville and Brighton, we are going to ask for no burning at this time.”
