Twin Lakes Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District Board of Commissioners Monday approved a contract for the treatment of watermilfoil in the lakes this year with a different compnay than it has been using recently.

Commissioners — who are the same as the Village Board members — unanimously approved a contract with Stantec of Stevens Point for an amount not to exceed $10,000. Commissioner/Trustee Jeremy Knoll was absent.

Tony Mignon, chairman for the lake district steering committee, said he was aware that Stantec’s treatment of Powers Lake in Randall appears to have been very effective in recent years.

Mignon said the next step in the process will be to survey Lakes Mary and Elizabeth and see where beds of watermilfoil are present and then treat those areas.

The treatment process is also supervised by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Commissioners also on Monday  approved filing for a permit for the treatment with the DNR and for postage for notifying riparian property owners.
