Customers of Southport Bank, which is based in Kenosha and has a branch in Paddock Lake, have been reporting receiving phishing calls looking for personal information.
These automated calls that request that someone enter personal information like account numbers or personal identification numbers are not legitimate, warned Linda L. Maeschen, AVP – Executive Administrative Assistant for Southport.
Maeschen said in an email to westofthei.com:
Many of our customers have called telling us that the scam that went around in February is back. The calls identify not only Southport Bank, but other banks and credit unions in the area as well. The robo-call will tell people their debit or credit card is locked and that the person must provide the card and PIN number or other identifying information to unlock it. Obviously, a bank or credit union would never ask for that information.”
