If an apparent tie in vote totals between two candidates for the Riverview School Board holds up, who wins the seat could end up decided by a draw, district administrator John Gendron explained today.
In Tuesday’s election to fill two school board seats, candidate Mary K. Vozel received the most votes, 263. The other two candidates — Chris Willkomm and Bert A. Christensen — both received 252 votes in the complete unofficial totals.
First off, the district has to wait until Friday to see if any absentee ballots postmarked by April 1 show up to change the results, Gendron explained. After Friday, the canvassing board will certify results. If there is still a tie, who wins the seat will be decided by drawing lots.
