United Way of Kenosha County is working in partnership with Gateway Technical College, Carthage College, the Kenosha County Job Center and other community organizations to support the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which provides income tax preparation services for low-moderate income individuals and families. Last year, volunteers assisted clients in receiving over $1.368 million dollars.

Volunteers are being recruited to work at VITA sites in Kenosha, Salem, and Twin Lakes. Free and flexible IRS training is available. No prior experience is necessary. Volunteers are needed for tax preparation, to greet clients, provide interpreter services, review returns and organize the tax sites. The free tax sessions will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings starting Feb. 1, 2014 through April 8, 2014.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please respond calling Laurie McDonald at 262-658-4104 or contact her via email at lmcdonald@kenoshaunitedway.org today. This program is brought to you by the Kenosha County VITA Coalition.
