Holding your breath waiting for a decision on the fate of the Kenosha Menominee tribal casino?
The Menominee tribe has been seeking approval to build a casino on the grounds of the closed Dairyland Greyhound Park. Supporters of the project say it will create 5,000 temporary and permanent jobs.
Gov. Walker holds the final approval. He has said that he would approve the casino under certain conditions, including that all Wisconsin tribes are OK with the facility being built. The Pottawatomie Tribe, which operates a casino in Milwaukee, has consistently opposed the Kenosha casino. Walker has said he needs time to consider the complicated arguments raised by both sides and last week said a decision is months away.
Salem and Randall have passed resolutions supporting the casino. State Rep. Samantha Kerkman also has urged Walker to approve the project.
