The 9th Annual Twin Lakes Shop With a Hero, organized by the Twin Lakes Professional Police Association, took place this morning.

This year’s event was funded by donations from local businesses including major donations from Genoa City Lions and Lake Geneva Walmart.

Hero’s from the Twin Lakes Police Department & Dispatch, Twin Lakes Fire & Rescue and Randall Fire Department shopped with 12 children from Randall Consolidated School and 12 from Lakewood School. The students were selected by the teachers of the school to participate in the event. The students are selected based on good grades, behavior and other standards that the schools set. Each child was given $150 to spend at Walmart while shopping with their own police officer, dispatcher, firefighter or EMT. Family members of the hero’s also volunteered time to wrap any of the items the children purchased. After shopping the hero’s, shoppers and their family were invited to a free pizza buffet hosted by Driftwood Restaurant in Twin Lakes.
