Snow update: about 4.5 inches on ground now, blowing around Monday

snowflake-sxc-ilker-webWe here at westofthei.com headquarters in Paddock Lake measured 4.5 inches of snow on the ground from about 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

That’s quite a bit more than the 2 or so inches forecast.

The snow is supposed to taper off any time now. (Let’s hope so. I’ve got enough to shovel out there already at 5 a.m.) Tomorrow morning, the hazard will be blowing snow. As winds will be westerly, the worst drifting should be on north-south roads. A winter weather advisory remains in effect until  6 a.m.

For the balance of the week, there is a 30 percent chance of more snow Tuesday night and Wednesday with high temperatures in the 20s.

I would like to take this opportunity to THANK the men and women that plowed the roads. I would also like to take this opportunity to scold the Kenosha County Executive and the Kenosha County Board. You are so worried about cutting the budget and saving money with Act 10. I think that for every person that was in an accident and hurt, YOU should apologize to the families for not allowing more people to take care of the roads. Can’t authorize overtime for cleaning the roads, but, make sure you authorize foolish spending for a bike path and dog park! Shame on all of you. You’d be mad too if your family was in an accident because the roads weren’t cleared!!!!!
