Tuesday, members of the State Assembly enjoyed kringle in honor of the Central High School softball team winning the Division I State title against Kenosha Bradford High School. When they found out that the two final teams were Central and Bradford, Representatives Samantha Kerkman (R-Randall) and Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) made a friendly wager on the outcome of the game, as Central is located in Rep. Kerkman’s 61st Assembly District and Bradford in Rep. Barca’s 64th. They agreed that the representative of the unsuccessful team would bring kringle for the members of the State Assembly as they debate the state budget bill this week. Rep. Barca provided the kringle for the legislators on Tuesday. “I commend the hard work of both teams who competed for the state title,” said Rep. Kerkman. “I’m proud that our area of the state has such impressive, talented athletes, and I wish them the best in the future. Congratulations to Westosha Central, new state champions!” Kringle was the appropriate celebratory treat, as the budget bill contains language that would designate the kringle as the official state pastry of Wisconsin
