Robert Pattie, formerly of Silver Lake and a former member of Silver Lake Fire Department, Silver Lake Rescue Squad and a former full-time paramedic/firefighter with Salem Fire/Rescue, died Sunday in a motorcycle crash in Colorado.

Pattie was 28.

Salem Fire/Rescue Chief Mike Slover asked for a moment of silence at the beginning of tonight’s Salem Town Board Committee of the Whole meeting in honor of Pattie as well as victims of the Boston Marathon bombings this afternoon.

“We’ve been asked by the (Pattie) family to assist in the funeral arrangements and to have a fire department funeral,” Slover said after the meeting.

Pattie left the Salem department, his first full-time firefighter/EMS job, to join the fire department at Buckley Air Force Base in Denver as a civilian firefighter, Slover said.

“He was sorely missed when he left here,” Slover said. “It’s just tragic, untimely. I feel for his family.”
