United Way of Kenosha County kick-off is Sept. 5

United Way of Kenosha County, an organization that mobilizes the caring power of Kenosha County to improve lives in measurable and lasting ways throughout our communities, invites the public to join in the celebration of the 2012 Campaign Kickoff. The breakfast event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Gateway Technical College Conference Center, Madrigrano Auditorium.

Registration will take place from 7 to 7:30 am, with breakfast from 7:30 to 8 am. A brief program will follow, including the announcement of this year’s volunteer campaign leadership, and comments from United Way Board President Bryan Albrecht, United Way’s new CEO, Tracy Nielsen, and Honorary Campaign Chair Dr. Gregory Woodward, President of Carthage College.

The theme for the 2012 Campaign is ‘United We Give”.

This year United Way has set an ambitious goal of raising $927,000, a nearly 20 percent increase over last year.

“While the percentage increase seems intimidating, when you break it down it is very doable. People in all walks of life want to help others. They want to improve their community. Often they are just waiting to be asked. United Way is committed to make sure the public and key partners are engaged in meaningful ways that can improve Kenosha County,” said Nielsen.

The funded partners of the United Way of Kenosha County served 12,637 households last year in our communities to meet their needs in the areas of Strong Families, Healthy People and Basic Needs. Fifteen area organizations received funding to provide programs and services including ELCA Urban Outreach Center, The Sharing Center and Children’s Service Society.

Tickets for the 2012 Campaign Kickoff event are available by contacting Bonnie Butler at 262-658-4104 or bbutler@kenoshaunitedway.org. Breakfast is $20 per person or $150 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased the morning of the event during registration.
