United Way of Kenosha County has new CEO

United Way of Kenosha County, an organization that mobilizes the caring power of Kenosha County to improve lives in measurable and lasting ways throughout our communities, today announced the appointment of Tracy Nielsen as Chief Executive Officer effective Aug. 27.

Nielsen brings more than eight years of experience to her new role having previously served as the Vice President of Marketing and Resource Development for United Way of Racine County. Nielsen replaces John Milisauskas who has served as Interim CEO of United Way since April 2012.

“We welcome Tracy’s experience and leadership to the Kenosha community,” said Bryan Albrecht, President of Gateway Technical College and current United Way Board President. “In her new role as Chief Executive Officer, she will be responsible for raising the awareness of United Way locally and substantially improving fundraising efforts. Her results- oriented approach and ability to think strategically will play a pivotal role in leadership of United Way, expanding on partnerships and more effectively addressing the community’s most pressing needs.”

Nielsen has experience in leading successful fundraising campaigns in support of key community programs and initiatives, in spearheading community change efforts and organizational leadership. In addition to serving as Vice President for United Way of Racine County she also served as the VP – Resource Development and Marketing for United Way of the Wine Country serving Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte Counties in California, and has held prior positions with United Way of Racine County focused on communications, marketing and program development. She got her start with United Way working on the formation of the Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization (HALO) in Racine. Nielsen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from St. Cloud State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Alverno College. She currently serves on the board of 21st Century Preparatory School, is a University of Wisconsin – Madison Wisconsin Idea Scholar, and is a member of Racine Founders Rotary Club. She was named the United Way Great Rivers Young Professional of the Year in 2010.
