This Saturday night, June 23, features the USAC Amsoil NATIONAL Sprint Series and their 410 non wing Sprint Cars at Wilmot Raceway. Racing will be Jon Stanbrough, Levi Jones, Dave Darland, Damien Gardner, Tracy Hines, Bryan Clauson, Tommy Sexton, and more. Joining USAC’s Thunder & Lightning will be Wilmot’s own Fec’s Place / Outlaw Race Parts Mini Sprints, Don’s Auto & Machine / Hoosier Tire Modifieds, and the Massive Speed Pro 4’s / Hawg Heaven Bandit 4’s. This is the first time in way over a decade that the USAC National Sprint Cars have been at Wilmot.

In action at Wilmot from last weekend, DirtCar National Late Model Champion Ryan Unzicker made the biggest pass of his career on the last lap of the UMP Late Model Summer Nationals Hell Tour 40 lap headliner Sunday to capture the big $5000 first prize. In a event promoted by the fine folks at LaSalle Speedway, it was Unzicker slipping under Arkansas racer Wendall Wallace to take the win. Wallace and Brandon Shepphard swapped the lead back and forth throughout the 40 lap affair before Sheppard’s Rocket House Car entry slowed with a low tire, allowing Unzicker his chance. Shannon Babb would come home third, over Brian Birkhofer, and young Bobby Pierce. Local hot shoe Russ Scheffler would charge to a 7th place finish. 31 touring National Late Models signed in. The Badger Mod Tour had 52 cars make the trip to Wilmot for their first ever event in the new series. Lance Arneson won a very competive 30 lap A-main which featured the best Mo drivers in the state. Past Wilmot Champion Scott Kuxhouse qualified extremely well through his heat race and ran as high as 5th in the headliner, only to fall to 11th in the 23 car field at the checker. 2011 Wilmot Modified Champ Chris Carlson would come home 15th. Slightly different rules used by the series, than Wilmot utilizes regularly had some of Wilmot’s heavy hitters scratching their heads, as those differences certainly took away any home track advantage. Dustin Holland captured the RA Adams Enterprises / Advance Auto Parts Street Stock A-main in a event that was halted several times early for cautions. Dan Huber came home a strong 2nd over Charles Pinkalla, Dustin Richards, and defending track champion Pat Rossman. 23 Wilmot Raceway Street Stocks were on hand with all 23 given the go ahead to start the A in this special invitational format.

Wisconsin’s best Street Stocks return to action on Saturday night June 30 at Wilmot. And don’t forget the Paul Stender Jet Rocket Thrill Show coming to Wilmot with Mods, Streets, and 4’s on Saturday night July 7.
