John Steinbrink

State Rep. John Steinbrink has announced his candidacy for the state Assembly seat in the new 61st District.

Steinbrink, a Democrat from Pleasant Prairie, has been a state representative since 1997. His current district, the 65th, was redistricted to a city of Kenosha district leaving his residence in the 61st District.

The new 61st District also includes the residence of state Rep. Samantha Kerkman, a Republican who has represented the 66th District since 2001. She also has announced her candidacy for the new 61st District seat.

Besides being a state representative, Steinbrink also is the Pleasant Prairie village president. His official state Assembly biography says the Kenosha native’s occupation is grain farmer and that he is a former dairy farmer.

The new 61st District includes most of Western Kenosha County (except Wheatland), about half of Somers and Pleasant Prairie.
