The Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Association is seeking permission from Twin Lakes to shut down a village street in conjunction with a new event planned for this August.

The event will feature an outdoor display of local businesses and other activities in the area around chamber headquarters downtown on Aug. 25. This is the first year for the event, which chamber representatives say will feature various businesses, crafters, farmer’s market vendors and a children’s area.

Later in the day, the annual block party will also take place downtown.

The chamber seeks to be able to close Bassett Street the length of the municipal parking lot from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. The chamber also wants to use the entire municipal parking lot and Central Park for the event as well.

At the committee of the whole meeting Monday, no Village Board members expressed any reservations about the chamber’s requests.
